In the early 1960s, we had an era of grace, innocence and goodwill. It was an era of caring love among the so call hippies of the 60s. It was an era of Camelot with the Kennedys. They made our country seam as if we were a monarchy with king and queen. While, an unpopular war raged across our vast oceans in Southeast Asia .

It was the era of the Vietnam War. It was a time when the Kennedy's were the ideal family projecting a wholesome clean image for our country. It was an era when the country was entering an awakening cycle of doubts and confusion. The Country had a new president whose philosophy was in line wit the mainstream Americans. Our president had inherited an unpopular crisis from a different administration and had his hands full in his first presidential term.

I recall the moments, when I felt proud to be an American volunteering and joining the army to contribute my share to protect a small countrys democracy. A country, which was unknown to most American. That was then; this is now, over forty years later. We have a new president with a wonderful looking family. A reflection of the average American family today.

I am concern about history repeating itself, events that took place then taking place again. It looks like we may have a future, and I am optimistic. We are living in times of misgivings when what was true then is no longer the case. With the events taking place today all over the world, no one can be certain what the future holds. Everyone is looking to holding on to something or someone to give us a sense of security.

It appears the new first family is showing the same quality the Kennedys did then. Electing a new president who is young can serve as an omen that our country is young, with wonderful possibilities as the burning torch, which will light the way for other countries in reaching their supreme goal, democracy.

As Americans, we have a responsibility to help the person who we elected as our leader Achieve all tasks, which lay before him during his presidential term. He is young, energetic, with a good heart and full of integrity. With the right advisers at his side, he will decide about issues that are depressing our country. The American people must rally around him and give him all the support needed so he can succeed his mission of leading us into prosperity. Obviously, electing Mr. Obama, is a sign; he was the right person for the job chosen at the right time for this country.

I was fortunate to have been watching TV on the day the first person from a black heritage elected as the new president of the United States . It was a proud moment for me in my life because I was seeing, what I thought I would never see happened in my lifetime. This is a sign there is still hope for us all.

It is time for the parties both the republicans, and the democrats to stop bickering among each other and work together towards a common goal. Pay attention what is in the best interest for the country and disregard the other small stuff.

God bless America , God bless our new firsts family
